Crafting Shell Polymers’ digital and interactive presence.

As the sole designer for Shell Polymers, I led design across multiple initiatives, including a microsite, brand campaign, and interactive touchscreens for the National Plastics Expo and a new production plant. I collaborated closely with partner agencies to ensure consistency across digital and physical touchpoints, while other agencies handled complementary marketing assets. This work allowed me to take full ownership of diverse projects, balancing user experience, creative direction, and brand alignment.

My Role
Product Designer, Brand Designer

Content Strategist, Project Manager

Shell previously had a couple of disparate webpages, disconnected from each other in navigation and without a similar visual style.

For a cohesive user experience, we wanted to consolidate and redesign these siloed pages into one immersive microsite experience. By thinking ahead on the content of the microsite and creating design styles, we were able to create a seamless experience for users.

The National Plastics Expo (NPE) occurs every three years and in 2024, Shell Polymers had a huge presence. The IBM team designed and wrote copy for 140 interactive, video driven screens for 4 onsite touchscreen displays. The screen content covered topics such as sustainability, the Customer Hub and compelling (Real)ationship stories which helped depict what Shell Polymers stands for and how Shell is different from other suppliers.

National Plastics Expo

Based on customer research and our overall content strategy, the Shell Polymers and IBMiX teams decided it was time for a brand campaign refresh.

We focused on how Polymers will be the supplier that forms true relationships with customers--something that isn’t happening today from competitors.

Brand Campaign Refresh

Toolkit

After creating the refreshed brand campaign, (Real)ationships Start Here, our team put together a toolkit to help guide Shell and other agency partners when creating content.

The toolkit includes:

  • Voice and tone guidance

  • Photography guidance

  • Example print ad design and copy

  • Email template

  • Digital banners

  • Social media post layouts

Shell asked for an interactive touch screen dashboard displaying facts and figures for their new plant. Along with another designer and developer, the team prototyped an interactive dashboard to include a grid state with expandable information on the plant.

Interactive Dashboard

Led end-to-end design across multiple platforms and formats, delivering a cohesive digital and interactive presence for Shell Polymers

  1. Established visual and interaction consistency across work produced by multiple partner agencies, strengthening brand alignment at scale

  2. Gained experience designing for non-traditional interfaces, including large-format and touchscreen environments

  3. Balanced strategic brand storytelling with practical UX considerations across marketing, experiential, and informational experiences

  4. Strengthened my ability to operate as a sole designer—owning decisions, collaborating cross-functionally, and adapting quickly across diverse project types
